He told of its success, the popularity with customers, and the feelgood factor of the staff. Thanks Nigel. Businesses, especially retail, need to feel open, welcoming and non-threatening. Colours, lights, displays stands, units must always be placed carefully.......to encourage the customer to enter and browse. How often have you felt overwhelmed/stressed by rows and rows of items, and blocked in by narrow, long aisles? Even to the point of not even entering the shop? Shops should feel like rooms, they welcome you in and encourage you to stay. The ergonomics, if used well, will help you to look round the whole store without you feeling oppressed and wanting to escape. ***Marks and Spencer is a perfect example--once upon a time, rows and rows of stuff--very offputting, but now placed into 'rooms', the customer wanders from room to room--the whole experience feels better. Supermarkets with their long rows, want to encourage you to be quick, not to hang about....but do note how many these days have other little shops/departments near the entrance to encourage you in! FENG SHUI GARDENS. Getting asked a lot these days to design gardens using feng shui principles. I love it, there is SO much choice, and with my garden design/garden centre experience, I can produce Mediterranean, Cottage Garden, Gertrude Jekyll, thoroughly modern, Japanese style, any type of garden. Basically a feng shui garden is based around a colour wheel, dependent upon the pa lua locations, and the appropriate colours within each sector. That's where my vast plant knowledge comes in so handy! HAVE COMPASS WILL TRAVEL---FENG SHUI DOCTOR. It's excellent to see how different places, different cultures are using feng shui within their own ideas of house structure and interior design. My feng shui visits to the Loire Valley and West coast of Ireland have proved very informative and useful. At the moment, am spending a great deal of time performing feng shui consultations in various boroughs of inner and outer London, meeting some lovely people and seeing all kinds of properties, businesses and gardens. FENG SHUI AT NUMBER TEN DOWNING STREET?????????? Pleased to see that the hallway and the landings are all yellow inside number 10. In Feng Shui, the colour yellow-in a hall, and/or living room, is helpful for a great welcome, good communication, intellectual stimulation and warmth of character..........and let's face it, our 'beloved' leader could do with it! GEOPATHIC STRESS. Whenever I perform a feng shui consultation, as part of the consultation, I check out geopathic stress indicators, as well as thoroughly dowsing for underground problems such as streams, wells, graveyards, battlefields, ley lines, and then, obviously telling the client how to correct the problem. I suggest you read-- SAFE AS HOUSES by David Cowan and Rodney Girdlestone, published by Gateway Books, Bath UK, ISBN---1-85860-037-5-- £8.95. The book describes in great detail how ill health and electrostress can be caused by geopathic and other forms of pollution in/around/under buildings. I recommend it to you. COLOURS--LIGHTS-PLANTS-MIRRORS---FENG SHUI CONSULTATIONS. Everything, yes--everything, is vibrational energy, resonating and harmonising with everything else...as proved by quantum physics. Colours have very strong positive vibrations. Yellow has a different vibration from red, which is different again from grey. Placing the correct elemental colours into the correct feng shui pa kua sector helps the chi energy, enhances and protects. Uplighters, lights in alcoves, understairs, in dark corners, in the porch and the hallway, all help to lift the chi energy, which drops naturally during the day with gravity. Remember uplighters raise the chi! So push light upwards not downwards, as often as you can. Indoor plants---evergreens such as rubber plant, aspidistra, crassula, cheese plant, castor oil plant, when placed correctly in the suitable pa kua sector also do wonders for sagging, stagnant chi energy...corners, alcoves, understairs spaces in the EAST, SOUTHEAST, SOUTH AND NORTH are ideal situations for large plants. Mirrors can help to move chi, bending it through narrow spaces, helping it move around sharp edges--but use them carefully and sparingly--quite rightly they are called the 'aspirin' of feng shui--do NOT overdose!! Colours, lights, plants, mirrors ------the basics of my feng shui consultations! COR BLIMEY AND LUVADUCK....EVERYBODY HAS JUMPED ON THE 'GREEN' BANDWAGON! So, here we go again, politicians all telling us they are taxing this and taxing that as a way of being green, cutting the carbon footprint, helping the future! RUBBISH! ********! Merely jumping on the bandwagon, hoping we won't notice. Politicians DO NOT keep their promises--{neither do senior TV production executives, but don't get me started on that one!} GREEN, they must think we are green to believe them. FENG SHUI in Ancient China was 'green'. The feng shui masters would not allow homes, crops, gravesites on floodplains. They always insisted that trees not be cut down on hillsides, for fear of flooding and mudslides. Oh, that we were so caring. The SOUTH facing location, now so popular for solar panels, was/is always considered the best facing location of any house, because of the warmth it generates during the day, and during the seasons. Called in feng shui 'the area of gentle breezes'. Ancient Chinese Daoist masters realised that everything effects everything. We are all part of the tapestry of life, they called it 'the cosmic dance', 'the soup of life'; literally everything is vibrating, resonating energy. What surrounds us is important, we feed off it, we are affected by it. HOW MUCH GREENER DO YOU WANT TO BE?? Come on now, all those media types I talk to often-----YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!---who tell me that feng shui is 'old hat' and 'so uncool', 'superstition'........ hey, live in the real world, and grab something that really is green, useful and been around for over 5000 years--and will always, yes always, BE cool, be relevant, be necessary! By using the pa kua locations of the room out of which you reach the balcony, extending the sectors outwards onto the balcony, you can discover what colours, what plants, what furniture to use out there. The balcony can be a useful addition to the chi energies of the apartment, and sometimes can counteract poison arrows pointing in at the home, as well as removing 'stagnant' 'missing areas'. FENG SHUI---TOP TEN TIPS! 1.Bright lights just inside and just outside the front door. Keep them on from dusk to bedtime! 2. Strong earthy colours in toilets and bathrooms. 3. Large evergreen plants or uplighters in alcoves, on corner edges. 4. Never push a bed up to a wall, always give the bed two sides. 5. Have excellent lighting in the kitchen. 6. Try not to leave rooms unused--give them a purpose, use them daily. 7. Best location for an office at home is the southeast/south. 8. When you can, close all internal doors. 9. Use roundness, curves, bends throughout your front/rear gardens. 10. Use feng shui as a tool, never let it use you, dominate you! Good fireplaces can be situated in the south, east, south-east, south-west----they can be encouraged to enhance the natural energies, by using appropriate colours, sometimes earthy, sometimes fiery or based on wood element--above and around the already 'good' fire. Fireplaces which are not good---in the north, the west, the northwest can be protected against---amongst other things, this usually involved the placement of a mirror above the fireplace, and shiny, rounded metal ornaments around it! FRONT DOORS. Usually the best frontage/front door location you can get is: southeast/south. This is known as 'area of gentle breezes' in feng shui. It's not as simple as that though--depends on loads of other things--such as, position of water/roads-cul de sacs--substations---hills--valleys--to name but a few. MIRRORS--very magical. As you face your front door from inside the house, get a rounded mirror placed on the left hand side of the front door inside your hallway or porch--very auspicious! Have a mirror reflecting your dining table---so lucky. BUT, don't have a mirror reflecting your kitchen, toilet, front door, bed or windows. If you have a fire in a 'metal element' or 'water element' location--WEST/NORTHWEST/NORTH- -then hang a large mirror with a metallic frame above your fireplace to 'put out the fire' and stop the element conflict! GARDENS--bends and curves, introduce them in your flower beds and the edges of lawns as well as pathways. Get different levels in your garden. A sunken, hidden garden in the SOUTHWEST, with lots of slabs, pebbles, gravel is ideal. A raised rockery area in the NORTHEAST is fantastic, plant it with alpines and herbs! AND DON'T OVERFILL YOUR GARDEN, GIVE IT SPACE TO BREATHE! JOB/CAREER ADVANCEMENT/INTERVIEWS--work on the NORTH-NORTHWEST-WEST-EAST AND SOUTH. SUPERHERO---'FENG SHUI' FIGHTS THE BADDIE---'ELECTROSMOG! I believe that feng shui is needed more today in the 21st century than it has ever been needed before. We are surrounded by mass radiation, microwaves, mobile phones, mobile phone towers, substations, pylons---ELECTROSMOG--which is ruining the natural flowing chi- -our planet's normal electromagnetic energy. The chi is now becoming twisted, distorted, mutated and polluted more than ever before. Illness, depression, stress, new strange viruses and maladies abound, as our internal and external naturally flowing energies are blocked, reshaped and poisoned by our surroundings. More and more of us are becoming hypersensitive to the damaging electrosmog- --a baddie which abuses us on a daily basis- --at home, at work, whilst travelling.
